About HaliJo Webster
Singer, Poet, Counsellor, Activist, Masseuse
Who Is HaliJo Webster?
Singer, Poet, PEER, Social humanist, Senior advocate, Masseuse and all around pretty interesting being. Being a sensitive, Hali Jo is humanly conflicted and blessed with emotional mood swings, that work as guides for creative healing and intensities. Flamboyancies and shyness are some more of her personal traits. As well as being contradictory, dark, deep, mysterious and light which she attributes to being a survivor. These are what compels her creative self “So shall we write on the walls today or climb them?"
HaliJo considers herself to be a chicken soup full of saged wisdom growing seeds of newly sprouted gems as she continues on her lifes journey. As with all things, there is sweetness and bitterness but, remembering to laugh dance and sing helps with the awareness of the awakenings. Along with meditation and a sage purification, a cry here and a shout there are also blessed cleansings.
Halijo was born in Southern Ontario, HaliJo presently resides in Northern British Columbia.
What Halijo Does
Healings and Outreach
Halijo works from her home as a Certified Holistic Masseuse using calendula oil based aromatic oils. She is also an acupuncturist, Rieki Practitioner, and also contracts out as a Registered Professional Health-Care Aide with a specialized interest in senior care and advocacy, including working with the families of the elderly who need care. Hali acts as a supportive outreach PEER whenever possible.

Advocacy
Being active in bringing the issues of violence toward women into public awareness, Halijo also addresses the issue of drugs (street and pharmaceutical) and alcohol, which are side-effects of the violence that numbs out "survivor pain". HaliJo places great compassion on those who have traveled (or are still traveling) that existence.
Philosophy-based Action
HaliJo believes "humanity is community". With her guitar, songs, poetry and sharing in healing circles, groups, like functions, HaliJo has been a positive peer supporter and non violent activist speaking out on the issues that she feels could be positive to societal awareness and help individuals on their own paths to find their own healing solutions pulling from her own experiences, especially those who are dealing with abandonment issues (the discarded child) and child sexual abuse from group home settings.
“Understanding we all can heal one another by sharing, I generally come away after sharing with some new awareness for my own being, it is very humbling” - Halijo Webster
After a personal transformation, HaliJo re-connected with her "inner Self", which inspired her pen-to-paper translations of her epiphanies and the many different "creative hats" she now wears. Hali Jo she still battles with demons and this is what makes her a empathy as a survivor shine on.
Artistic Outreach
HaliJo has published the first of her poetry books and cds, and donates all the percentages of her sales to two charities in the Prince George area. Utilizing her talents of singing, song writing, poetry and art, HaliJo delivers with a passion that is raw and emotion-filled to bring more awareness to issues close to her heart.
HaliJo was awarded an appreciation plaque for her Speaking out on Ending the Violence against Women and hosted an on line streaming radio show called "You Me and Variety" at CFUR 88.7fm at Prince George's Community-Based Campus Radio at UNBC. The show featured hot topics and local talent.
HaliJo is active in various local Prince George fund raisers and organizations, and is currently working additional projects.
HaliJo wishes to stay active, vocalizing the importance of supportive employment, during and after the rediscovery/recovery survival both during, and clean from addictions, abuse, mental disorders and being a discarded child. Without supportive employment opportunities geared to the needs of survivors, during and after the struggle, maintaining healthy lifestyles is a far greater challenge.
