Emotions And Awareness
by HaliJo Webster

I'm sad
now I'm happy
<oh sigh>
now I am sad again
come on in!

I will stand here at the door
welcoming you with humor close by,
I will laugh and have gratefullness by my side as well.

Oh joy!
How wonderful to see you!
I will put you beside sadness at the table,
maybe the two of you can find compassion?

Hello anger!
I will put you beside the window fan
to cool off,
and just in case,
there is a pool right outside
you can jump into.

Hello annoyance!
I will put you beside anger just to notice what happens,
i will be sure I stay aware at all times.

Oh, hello frustration,
go sit by anger and annoyance!
I love fireworks!

Oh sadness
<sigh> you again,
welcome, welcome!
I will sit you next to the other
different sadness who is with joy,
trying to find compassion.

WHERE IS THAT COMPASSION?

Oh, hello fear,
you go sit in anger's chair
anger is in the pool!
Apparently the fan was not working,
maybe hurt will come and keep you company.

Oh, fear, please don't run away!
Here comes hurt
the two of you
fear and hurt,
I welcome you to wait!
anger is sure to come back.

Oh my!
I welcome all of you
with laughter and gratefulness.

Oh anger,
welcome back
here is a towel,
go sit with fear and hurt,
understanding will be by later.

Patience is sitting in front of the mirror.
Won't you all look in there together?
You will see compassion
was here with us
all the time.
